UEFI ignores Ubuntu 24.04 if its intalled on dual boot with windows 11
If i dual boot with windows, it just jumps straight to windows no matter what. Even if i manually select ubuntu from the UEFI boot menu
If i wipe the disk and only install Ubuntu, it boots but without Grub menu. When I run the bootrepair i can get the grub menu back but a error noted is something about a fatal flaw about missing efi something. Also theres a error about the boot files are far from the disk, your bios might not detect them. You may want retry creating a esp partition at start of disk
All of this is weird because this is a clean install where Ubuntu installer made the efi partition: I dont know if its related to how i partitioned: 180GB for / and it automatically creates a 1.2GB efi/boot partition. Leaving 70GB of free unalocated free space
Another thing im suspecting is related in preventing ubuntu from dual booting with windows 11. Is that Ubuntu sole install wont boot unless i turn off TPM. If i disable it it boots but on dual boot config even if i disable TPM it wont boot ubuntu just jumps straight to windows
Looking online i found something that looks like my issue edk2.groups.io/g/devel/topic/when_tpm_is_enabled_ubuntu/103430908
“- You have broken-by-design platform firmware (motherboard), which does
not permit the external modification of Boot#### options.
- The FB_NO_REBOOT override is not available to you because (a) you use
Ubuntu, and (b) Ubuntu builds their shim / fallback binaries with
FALLBACK_NONINTERACTIVE: that is, with the override statically
compiled out.”
Considering its a cheap Lenovo laptop its firmware might be set to prioritize Windows install and ignore the rest?
