Parametric Compressor by Parish Audio
Parametric Compressor is a frequency-selective dynamics processor that lets you place independent compressor bands anywhere in the frequency spectrum.
Unlike a conventional multiband compressor, the signal does not need to be divided into fixed adjacent crossover bands. Each band can be positioned independently, made narrow or broad, and overlapped freely with other bands.
Up to 10 compressor bands can be created. Each band includes:
- Frequency.
- Width.
- Threshold.
- Ratio.
- Attack.
- Release.
- Makeup Gain.
- Detector Source.
- Detector Mode.
The Frequency and Width controls define where compression is applied. Each band can operate over a focused part of the spectrum, a broad region, or be expanded to full width for traditional broadband compression.
Detector controls are independent for each band. A band can respond to the main input, an external sidechain, or both, and the detector can listen either to the selected frequency range or to the full signal.
This allows the processing region and detector source to be configured independently. For example, an external sidechain can trigger compression only in the low frequencies of another track, or a full-spectrum detector can control compression applied only to a selected part of the spectrum.
The interface includes an interactive spectrum display for creating, selecting, moving, and resizing compressor bands, along with input/output spectrum displays and gain-reduction feedback.
