Logic Pro experts I need your help – Hosts & Applications (Sequencers, DAWs, Audio Editors, etc.) Forum

Two separate things:-

– Checking the box adds the MP3 export to the bounce process.
– Clicking on the menu option text to the right of the checkbox, ie the actual menu option, selects that export type’s options in the window for editing.

In short, the menu text lets you access the parameters for that format, and checking/unchecking the box tells Logic whether you actually want to export that format in the bounce operation.

However, in earlier versions – eg, 10.4.x, 10.5.x, 10.6.x clicking a format checkbox would *also* select that menu option, the effect being when you ticked a format, it’s parameters would also automatically be selected.

In the current version (10.7.7, but I don’t know how far back it goes, probably 10.7.x generally), this behaviour is different – now clicking on a checkbox *does not* also select that menu item, so you can enable a format without changing which format bounce parameters are displayed in the dialog.

10.4.x to 10.6.x behaviour:-

I don’t know whether this was an intentional change, or a bug (could be either) but the thing to remember is above – the checkbox, and the menu for that format trigger different things. If you want to edit the parameters of a format, just select it’s name to access them.
