IK and the Amplitube line really sucks in this regard.. – Effects Forum

I had a few projects in 32 bit that were using the Amplitube Metal plugin. With a new computer, something in Cubase 8 is broken and now am forced into a newer version of Cubase that no longer takes 32 bit. And here lies the problem.

With Native instruments, Steinberg or just about any manufacturer, if you upgrade say to the new NI Guitar Rig 6, you can be sure that your Guitar Rig 5 presets are going to sound identical in 6. With IK not so. Take just about any sound(effect) in Amplitube 4 and load it into Amplitube 5 and it sounds different. And that same sound will sound different in the older standalone 32-bit vst if available.

So IK, just say that it’s a totally new instrument but don’t bother advertising compatibility because other than the name, the legacy models sound all different from 4.0 to 5.0. Now maybe there’s a way through programming to make them sound alike, but if settings are matched 1:1, I expect the same sound not something different.

I especially notice this in programs that use two amps in a stereo configuration. Something just not translating right.

So as a standalone product, Amplitube has great sounds. But as for compatibility between versions, not good.
