I think I just listened to the peak of synthwave, and one of the best pop tracks of the year

I’ve been a fan of Gunship for awhile now, and just caught up with their first single off their upcoming album; Unicorn.

Now, I’ve listened to A LOT of retrowave/synthwave over the years, and I don’t think I’ve heard a better song that encapsulates the genre than this. I’m not sure if it’s my favourite synthwave track (I tend to like it a bit darker (ie. Carpenter Brut), but I can’t deny the hook of this. It feels like it possesses crossover appeal that no synthwave group as been able to achieve so far.

It’s an absolute banger.
