How GIT Commit all but one changed file, using Visual Studio’s GIT GUI?
Situation:
Editing a project in Visual Studio 2022.
IMPORTANT: This is NOT a COMMAND LINE use of git. Visual Studio has a GUI for performing git commands.
I have changed a number of files, but there is one file in which the changes are “for testing”; I don’t want those committed.
Currently I see two ways I can commit all the desired changes, without committing that one file:
-
“Stage” all the other files. This can be tedious; worst case it requires right-clicking each file in changed list one-by-one, and selecting “Stage”. Then “Commit Staged”.
-
Undo the “for changes” testing in that one file; commit; manually add those changes back.
Question:
Is there some way to simplify this process? Maybe “mark” that one file somehow, so it is not committed?
NOTE: I prefer a solution that does NOT require running a git command via the command line.
