GENERATION OF FINITE ELEMENT MESHES FROM NODAL ARRAYS.
Two methods for automatically generating meshes of triangular elements from arbitrary arrays of nodes are discussed. Both techniques involve the construction of the Wigner-Seitz cell around each node. One technique, which has been reported previously, leads to a large proportion of inefficient, high aspect-ratio triangles. An alternative approach is proposed which yields a mesh of near-equilateral triangles, even in those regions where the density of the nodal array is varying rapidly.
