That is indeed the way to do it. Use Logic’s (or Mainstage’s) Autosampler plugin to autosample your hardware synths (or synth plugins) at specified intervals and velocity ranges, recording round robin samples as needed, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, automatically crossfade loop (using the “Penrose Machine” algorithm) your samples.

I can’t stress how important this last bit is. Nothing even comes close to the quality of Autosampler’s crossfade loop algorithm. Don’t waste your time with anything else.
