When you introduce something like this to a system you add a layer of friction the same way any DRM or plugin manager would. The only way around this is if your or someone else’s tool covers all eventualities. While it’s technically possible to make and centralize, it’s something that everyone want to be in control of. And with the law being fairly strict on monopolies, we’d end up with as many tools for this purpose as we have various DRMs and plugin managers today.
