Windows 10 and CentOS 8 dual boot installation issue

I have Windows 10 installed on my machine and I want to install CentOS 8 in a dual boot setup.

I created a partition and created a bootable USB drive with CentOS 8 iso. I used partition scheme as GPT and file system as NTFS. I got partition scheme information by using diskpart and list disk commands on the command prompt. File system information from Disk Management window.

However, when I try to install CentOS 8 through the boot menu in BIOS, I get the following issue:

Minimal BASH like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.

First of all, what is the reason for this?

Most guides don’t mention this and expect CentOS 8 installation should follow seamlessly after this point.

I enter to grub menu after above error. I used ls command to list available disks and partitions. It gives a list like (hd0) (hd0,gpt1) ... (hd1) (hd1,gpt1) ....

ls(hd0,gpt1) too doesn’t provide much information and grub doesn’t have find command to search and find. Therefore, I’m unable to locate my bootable USB drive and continue next steps of the installation.

  • What steps should I take from here?
  • Or is there a issue during the creation of bootable USB?
