It’s easy to craft a little elevated holder for a mouse, so when mouse is at the desired position, lift it up, put it in the holder,
and use whatever functions the software provides without nudging the mouse off the needed access point. In a small box, tape a styrofoam strip on the inside at each end of the box to elevate the mouse. Cakewalks old z3ta+ 1.5 has a great preset browser, as do the newer U-he plugins.
