Why does cubase run better on a pc?

Cubase 5 does run a bit more snappy, and efficient on PC, compared to Mac, this has been discussed on this, and other forums. You will also notice that there are much more Cubase 5 PC users, than Mac users.

In addition to that, Cubase 5 is currently a 64-bit DAW on PC/Windows-64, but, it’s still a 32-bit DAW for Mac OSX. So, if you intend to use memory demanding VST sample libraries, using 64-bit Cubase 5/PC has an advantage in terms of large memory (RAM) addressing capabilities.

Also (ASIO) latency, and multiple core processor utilization/threading is more efficient on PC, compared to Mac. Why ? because of more technical details I’m not an expert on to answer, but more to do with the coding of Cubase 5 for both platforms/OS’s.

According to Steinberg, the next Cubase 5 update version (5.5) will offer some under-the-hood improvements to Cubase 5, as far as performance, and latency are concerned, on both PC and Mac, plus various new features.

Stability of Cubase 5 on both Mac, and PC platforms is very good.
