What's a good software synth for learning more about how to use phase distortion? (in: Instruments)

The Casio CZ-1000 was my first hardware synthesizer. One I could afford as a teenager in the ’80s.

IME, Casio PD synthesizers are better at creating pseudo-analog textures than complex, dynamically responsive DX7 sounds.

My problem was that I was trying to imitate typical, then-new, digital DX7 timbres with this PD synthesizer. I failed.

However, the Casio CZ synths have sound wise something special of their own that only they can bring to life.

Enjoy the ride, YnJ!
