What changes or improvements would you want for VST4? – Page 2 – Effects Forum

My guess, and this is just a guess, not based on any inside SB’s info… that vst2 was done with the here and now in mind, without any idea how popular it and software synths would eventually become etc… and then it became very popular and being used in ways far exceeding the original design, so SB said.. hmm let us make one that we think can also adapt to the future (yes I am aware in that there was a lot of shortsightedness about what people really needed.. but over time I think they have learned from those errors and included stuff in the spec that they deliberately omitted initially)… and my guess is that vst 3 will keep being updated and modified etc and if there is a vst4 it will just be an extension of vst4.
