VST2.X the differnce between effGetVendorVersion and AEffect version? – DSP and Plugin Development Forum

I’m not sure how to interpret this. But can it be like this…
The version of the plug is only in the variable version in the AEffect struct.

And that the op-code effGetVendorVersion is a version number of
a reserved vendor specific op-code called effVendorSpecific ?

And the effVendorSpecific op-code is only used by plugs that are made by the hostmaker.

Can anyone confirm or refute this?

If some host maker has never found any host that uses the effVendorSpecific op-code.
It may be that they have not made a test plug with a special name and vendor name, that will trigger this op-code.

Or is there a shim that you can place between a host and a plug so you can listen to all traffic? has anyone made something like that?
