Visual Studio Code odd highlighting

I’m using VS Code for HTML and CSS development and I have notice random odd highlighting behavior. I don’t know if this highlighting is indicating something or if it’s a bug of some kind. Highlighting appears to occur randomly in parts of code; the code is not selected. It is not flagging an error and hovering over the highlighted area does not show tips or errors either. I have searched the Internet and VB Code documentation for this, but I can find nothing.

Is this a feature of VS Code I am missing or is it a bug?
