visual studio code – Do I need to press Keep when letting Github Copilot in agent mode edit my files?

Docs say if I don’t “Keep them, the edits won’t be saved; all LLM’s tell me the same.

But I’ve been allowing Github Copilot in agent mode, for days now, to CRUD all my codebase and not once have I pressed *Keep *and yet the files are being auto saved alright (as one would expect).

When I tell this to chatbots they all insist I must have auto save on in VS Code.
It is not the case.

Don’t get me wrong, I prefer not to have to press Keep as I think what I am getting is the proper behaviour for an agent (also I have version control).

But VS Code has a list of files on top of the chat I can’t hide unless I press Keep or Undo. Undo is scary.

My main questions are:

  1. How do people use the agent mode in regards to the Keep option?
  2. Does anyone know what would happen if I press Keep now, after 1000 already saved edits? What will it “keep”?

I have searched all over but since this is a very recent feature in the free version, no luck on the Internet, and LLMs say the behaviour I am experiencing can’t be happening.
