visual studio 2022 – Setup Failed when installing SQL Server Integration Services Projects (Error 0x800703F6)

I am trying to install SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Projects extension for Visual Studio 2022, but the setup keeps failing with the following error message:

One of the files in the registry had to be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The recovery was successful.”

Question:

  • What can I do to fix this setup failure?
  • Is there a reliable way to manually install SSIS Projects, or fix the registry problem causing this?

I have already tried:

  • Closing conflicting processes (like PerfWatson2).
  • Restarting my machine.
  • Running the installer as Administrator.
  • Repairing Visual Studio 2022 installation.
  • Trying the latest SSDT installer manually.

But I still get the error 0x800703F6 during setup.

My setup:

  • Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
  • Visual Studio 2022 (latest updates installed)
  • SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) partially installed
