VirtualCZ envelope segment shaping? – Oli Larkin Plugins Forum

Is there any way to change the slope shapes of the envelope segments (doesn’t matter if it’s in ADSR or MSEG mode)?

I find the attack slope very unnatural – it rises slowly for a long portion of its duration, then rises extremely fast for a small final portion of its duration. In most synth envelopes I’m aware of, the attack slope is shaped the other way round, starting fast and then changing slower and slower as the slope approaches its peak. This corresponds to amplitude changes experienced in real life such as approaching a sound source. When playing timbres that allow for expressive performance (acoustic or electronic; think of winds, strings and singing) one needs to have the freedom to choose between either attack shape.

If this does not exist yet in VirtualCZ, please add a switch to select between the current shape and the natural/ conventional shape. As it is, I find the plugin and the Expansion Packs a wonderful source for presets but am regularly frustrated when trying to change patches, for this sole reason.

(Another convention, going back to Buchla systems and pretty rare until ~15 years ago but now fairly popular in modular synths, is to have linear envelope slopes that can be bent into log or exp shapes through feedback into CV inputs for each slope. Probably more complex to implement than a switch and a bit much for a quick update, but would be a great update for future versions.)
