Utali Saturator
A multiband saturator to add grit, harmonic richness and presence exactly where your mix needs it most. Three phase-coherent bands, five saturation circuits per band, 4× oversampling and fully parallel drive, mix and gain.
The sound is split into low, mid and high bands with matched crossovers, so they add back up flat and nothing cancels. The splits default to 250 Hz and 4 kHz and move anywhere you like. Each band gets its own circuit, drive, mix and gain: warm the low end, add edge to the mids and leave the top alone, or the other way round. Everything runs at four times oversampling, and the plugin reports its delay to your DAW.
The five circuits: Tube (asymmetric soft clipping with the treble roll-off a tube stage adds as you push it), Tape (magnetic hysteresis with pre- and de-emphasis), Transistor (a soft-knee curve that clips hard for punch), Digital (a bitcrusher with sample-and-hold, 16 down to 4 bits) and Reel (the measured tape model from Tapey).
On the panel: low-mid split (20 to 2,000 Hz), mid-high split (200 Hz to 20 kHz), and per band: circuit type, drive (1× to 16×), parallel mix and gain (±12 dB).
Free, for any use. VST3, Audio Unit and standalone on macOS; VST3 and standalone on Windows.
