USB inputs falsely recognised as an audio interface – Computer Setup and System Configuration Forum
I have an Audio-Technica USB turntable that I’ve been using with Audacity on a (Windows 10) laptop to record vinyls for many years without issue; however a few months ago I bought an M-Audio M-Track Solo interface to use with a hardware synth, and after trying the interface once (and subsequently disconnecting it), whenever I connect the turntable to my laptop it now only registers as the M-Track interface. Previously it appeared under Devices as ‘USB Audio CODEC’, while now it is only recognised as ‘Line 1/2 (M-Audio M-Track Solo)’, the same as the interface. While it is still possible to record from the turntable by selecting this input in Audacity, it records at a much slower speed/lower quality, with constant skips and lost audio data.
On other laptops which haven’t had the M-Track connected the turntable is recognised as normal. I’m unfortunately not well-versed in computers so I’m unsure what’s caused this issue in the first place, or how to solve it.
