Unfortunately, a lot of plugins that claim to have lookahead just use a simple negative sidechain delay (Melda, Blue Cat, ToneBoosters).

ReaComp is a tiny bit more advanced in that it takes the maximum GR of the delayed vs. non-delayed sidechain.

You should make a distinction between those^^ and plugins that implement a true lookahead with gain-reduction-smoothing (Pro-C 2, FirComp).
