I am trying to replicate or emulate the sound and shape of the Hi Hats used in the clip from a dance track released in 2000 and I know from reading and watching various interviews given by the artist/producer, it was all analogue hardware.
I have been bogged down on this for a couple of weeks on and off and I will explain.
To my ears, the open hat falls on the beat where the snare would be but mixed with a short clap (maybe with a short reverb).
