statistics – How do I enter and apply an index into R?

I’m currently getting started on using R with R Studio as my IDE for my thesis. I want to import multiple data sets and apply the European Gender Equality Index to them. Importing the data is no problem, but I don’t even know where to start looking when it comes to entering and using the index. How do I enter the equation into R and name and define those variables? Pointers to tutorials, FAQs and such that might help me solve that question would also be greatly appreciated.
