SSD not booting after dual-boot Linux installation: No bootable device, UEFI Boot Mode
I’m having an issue with my SSD after attempting to install Linux as a second OS alongside Windows 11. Here’s what I did:
- My SSD had Windows 11 installed. I created a new partition to install Linux.
- During the Linux installation, I partitioned the disk as follows:
- Created a 10 GB partition for the root filesystem (
/). - Allocated the remaining space for
/home.
- Created a 10 GB partition for the root filesystem (
- During partitioning, I modified the EFI bootloader, setting the mount point for
/boot. - For the root filesystem partition (
/), I changed the filesystem type to Btrfs. I did the same for the/homepartition. - After completing the installation and rebooting, I get the error: No bootable device.
- In the BIOS, the SSD is detected, and the boot mode is set to UEFI.
What i’ve try:
- Verified that the disk is visible in the BIOS.
- Booted from a Linux LiveCD and confirmed that the disk and partitions are visible using
lsblkandfdisk. - I also tried to create a bootable USB drive with Windows to attempt installing Windows 11, but the Windows 11 installer was unable to detect my SSD.
And so:
How can I restore the bootloader and make the system bootable again? Is it possible to do this without data loss? What steps should I follow?
