SQL Database (Azure) Auto-Pause state costs going up by 4x

My Azure Database resource has auto-pause enabled and when there is no activity it kicks in and there is almost no cost for vcores during that time. Recently i have noticed that this has changed and now my daily vcore cost (with auto-pause enabled and server being in the pause state) these costs have gone up by 4x. I do not know what has caused this.

costs with server being in the pause state (before) — $35-$50 per day
costs with server being in the pause state (after) –$279-$285 per day

screenshot attached for clarity

i looked at resource specs in settings > compute + storage to see if vcores, service tier, storage redundancy have changed but nothing has really changed.

if the query complexity have increased, should it impact the vcore costs being so high even with server being in paused state?
