Solved: Revit template custom – Autodesk Community

Yes, you can insert families into a custom template. As long as you have the RTE (template) file open in Revit, you can insert nearly anything you want. Make sure to save the file, and then test it out by starting a new project with that template.

 

As for the lines/patterns I believe there are a few third-party applications or add-ins that can do this. If you have pyRevit installed one of the extensions that is published is the EF-Tools. There is a tool within that extension that can copy the lines/patterns from one filter to another one.
