title = “Simulation of experimental research on strengthening concrete columns by basalt fiber sheets”,

abstract = “The use of externally bonded fiber reinforced polymer is widely accepted technique for strengthening and/or rehabilitation of the existing engineering infrastructure. A relatively new material in this field is the basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP). The aim of this study is to achieve a better understanding of the mechanica! response of concrete cylinders strengthened by externally bonded BFRP. Constitutive relations are defined for the concrete and for the BFRP. The inelastic concrete behavior is simulated by coupling elasticity with damage. BFRP is modeled as a transversely isotropic material which shows linear elastic response until failure. The material models are implemented in a detailed finite element model. The study completes an experimental program previously carried out. A possible refinement of the model through consideration of anisotropic damage is discussed.”,
