sftp changing file ownership on centos

All files on centos are owned by me, goofy, and group as domain group. Uploading a plugin to the server “flipped” one of the files in the plugin to appear on server from goofy owned and domain group to apache owned and apache group. How/Why does this happen? How to prevent this from happening? Now that it has happened and I no longer have file access as I am not apache, how do I delete this file from server?

This never happened before so have not tried anything yet. It happens to one plugin out of 50 that I have uploaded. Never expected a file to flip ownership and group
