I ended up going with Stepic. Basically precisely what I was after.

One thing which is slightly annoying- if I set my DAW to, say, an 8bar loop, everything it loops back to the start, Stepic glitches and starts playing out of time. Obviously I can just not set the DAW to loop, but I’m wondering if there is a way to correct this as its slightly annoying to be tweaking a sequence and having to play through hundreds of bars.
