You still need to set up the round-robin itself. The source just determines at which level the counter sits. If on region (for matrices), then only the matrix’ counter itself is incremented on note on. If group, then a shared counter is used for all regions, thus you “sync” the trigger in multiple matrices.
Program and MIDI is the only one really useful for group switching. The counter is then on program level, or key level, and shared between groups.
