Pssst! Instruments Destruktor: Prepared Cello Percussion

Destruktor: Prepared Cello Percussion is a percussion instrument built entirely from one real cello that could no longer be played. Instead of throwing it away, we prepared it and played it with saws, drills, axes, hammers, bows and bare hands. Every hit was recorded with extremely close microphones and left almost unprocessed, so the samples keep their physicality: the wood, the metal, the tension.

The result is 88 sounds a cello was never meant to make: deep body thumps, splintering wood, sharp metallic strikes, screeching bowed textures, muted taps, dirty plucked strings and chopped hits. Dry, dirty and physical – for scores that need something dark, tactile or simply unusual.

Destruktor is a native plugin (VST3 / AU / Standalone) – no Kontakt or other sampler required. It shares its engine with Preparist: Piano Percussion 1.6.

Features:

  • 88 articulations, 5 round robins each, in one ready-to-play preset.
  • round robin modes: per key, global, random, or locked to one group.
  • articulation randomization (“the dice”): one click reshuffles which sound sits on which key, with step-back.
  • single-sample and single-key tuning; save and load your own setups.
  • built-in effects: compressor, distortion, lo-fi, wow, bitcrusher, rotary, ASR, filters, stereo mode, tempo-synced delay and reverb.
  • bonus sample pack: 440 WAV one-shots (44.1 kHz / 16-bit) for any sampler or DAW.
  • about 130 MB installed.

System requirements: Windows 10 or later, macOS 10.13 or later; 64-bit host with VST3 or AU support, or the Standalone app.
