PSP 608 MultiDelay – Effects Forum
Ronin’s delay block is modelled on an analog delay, so the sample rate varies appropriately when the delay is changed and everything can be modulated. This one is designed like a series of digital delay buffers. So no pitch changes and no modulation of delay taps. This is also a multitap delay. Maybe a closer match would be Ohmboyz.
Personally I didn’t care much for this new PSP delay. I’m interested in using effects actively, so changing things on the fly and over time. A showstopper for me is the absence of modulation. It was especially frustrating for the delay to go silent any time you adjusted the delay time.
I love Ronin, which is designed to be very hands on. I’ve never really warmed to any of PSP’s effects as they never struck me as intended for that kind of use (maybe the 42 is with the manual adjustment, but it just isn’t my thing). There are a lot of nice features on the 608, and I have seen some very positive reactions to it, so it really just comes down to what you want personally in a delay, as it really is a high quality product.
Me, I want delays like Ronin and Dubstation most of the time (or Ohmboyz for other times).
