The standard you seek already exists, it’s called MIDI 2.0 and everyone should be pushing plugin developers and DAW developers to fully and rapidly embrace it. Instead of 16 channels you get 256 and they are bidirectional, and instead of 128 MIDI CCs you get over 32,000. Those CCs are are not limited to the 7 bit 128 steps steps of resolution that MIDI 1.0 has. They are 14 bits with 16,000 steps
MIDI 2.0 is an open standard not a propriety one, it’s not tied to a single manufacturer
