It’s a time-based view of frequency, so you get the 3rd element of time added to the frequency and db info displayed in more conventional frequency analyzers (like Span), at the expense of more granular info on db (represented but color).
Being able to see frequency over time is useful when designing sounds that morph over time to find excessive or unwanted high or low end. Also for finding ‘hot spots’ in a sound or mix. Also good for seeing changes in harmonic content over time.
