There isn’t a setting yet that locks it to 3 or 4 chords. You can get close though. Full Chords sticks to plain triads, and you can click the Chord panel at any spot and swap the chord for another one that fits, so you can steer it toward C, F, G and Am yourself. A chord limit is a really good idea, and it’s something I’ll be adding in a coming update.

For holding chords longer, open Advanced Shaping and set Harmonic Pace to Held….
