.NET Templates in Visual Studio (extra sln/slnx being created)

I have a .NET Template that already contains a solution file as well as several projects. When instantiating this template via the CLI everything is fine. However when instantiating it via Visual Studio 2022/2026 a separate *.sln / *.slnx solution file is created. This newly generated solution file is being use to auto-open everything, instead of the existing solution file (i.e. losing customizations and creating unnecessary confusion for the template users). How can I prevent Visual Studio from creating this extra solution file and just use the one I provided.
