microcontroller – ESP32 can’t connect with PC (dmesg is empty)
I am experiencing an issue with connecting my ESP32 to my PC.
I had planned to follow a simple tutorial, such as the one found here: randomnerdtutorials.com/esp32-web-server-arduino-ide/.
However, when I connect the ESP32 via USB B micro to my PC (like this one USB B micro ), it is not being recognized. I have checked the dmesg log by running dmesg -wH, but there is no output when I plug or unplug the device.
Could anyone please advise me on how to resolve this issue?
I tried this as well, docs.arduino.cc/software/ide-v2/tutorials/getting-started/ide-v2-downloading-and-installing/, to add 99-arduino.rules but with no success.
On my ESP, it says ESP32-WROOM-32 model, and on back there is text “ESP32S. I can provide pictures if that could help. I tried it on Ubuntu 24.04 (also I tried it on alpine linux + xfce) but nothing.
Here is ESP32 (sorry for bad quality, it’s hard to focus it):
