It appears that they are deconvolving the effects of an initial microphone to obtain an approximation of the dry signal, then convolving the effect of a second microphone to obtain a wet signal as though the dry signal was sent through the second microphone only, again an approximate result. Technically this is not the same thing as applying a typical EQ curve which has usually contains only magnitude information.
