Manually played beat in Maschine Jam not appearing in clip (in: Bitwig)

Disclaimer : I’m new to Bitwig and coming from another DAW. Not quite getting the clip concept just yet
I’ve added Maschine 2 as a track, and I’ve got the step sequencer running on the Jam. I audition notes, and hear them. When I press record on the Jam, the pads light up when I trigger them manually. I also see the notes on maschine 2 itself.
The empty clip I added on maschine 2’s track still has no data in it, and neither does the piano roll at the bottom, because I played the drums directly…
