Low Mic Volume In Discord – Hosts & Applications (Sequencers, DAWs, Audio Editors, etc.) Forum
I have a Windows 10 PC and a 1st gen Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface. With that I am using an Audio Technica AT2020 mic connected by XLR to the first input on the Scarlett with phantom power turned on.
I use Discord to chat with my friends when gaming and they always complain that I am quiet even though at my end, the Scarlett’s gain is turned up to almost full (around 3/4 or the 3-4 o’clock position). In Discord I have echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto gain turned off.
When I have tested my levels in my DAW with the same settings on the Scarlett, they seem fine to me and even in the little test section of Discord so I am not sure why they say I am too quiet and I end up having to turn the gain right up to full. I sit close to the mic, it’s on a desk stand and about a fist away from my mouth.
Is this an issue with the mic itself or do I have some settings wrong? Thanks for any advice.
