Live API – Get Latency From Racks (Audio Effect Racks and Instrument Racks) – Max For Live Forum
Hi fellow Max friends.
I was experimenting with getting the latency of the devices in a track using the “get latency_in_samples” function when I realised that racks (audio effect racks and instrument racks) don’t return their latency the same way they do to in Live.
I made this example device where the the devices in a track and their corresponding latency in samples are displayed in a table (see picture) .
Does anyone know how to easily get latency of racks?
If not, I wish Ableton made the rack latency available through the API so that we avoid having to calculate the latency of the rack chains individually.
As far as I understand it, rack’s latencies are determined by the chain with the “most latency”.
This is, in my experience, not so easy to find when you have nested racks and multiple chains.
I’m currently using Max 8.5.4 (x64 mac) and Ableton Live 11.3.2.
Thank you in advance.
