It turned out indeed that the previous version can be installed no problem.

I’m quite sure that it’s possible to add a test for AVX2 in a Debian pre-install script. That would have saved some problems. A pre-install test could possibly be added to Windows and Mac installations. Maybe simple code that requires AVX2 could do it. But then if the notion prevails that every Bitwig customer on Earth today is using a computer that does AVX2, then there’s no motivation in doing so.
