Liminal: Horns Volume1 by Crocus Soundware

Liminal: Horns Vol.1 is a library of Flügelhorn and French Horn samples – playable using the full version of Kontakt 6.7.1+. The library’s articulations are expressive and evolving, with the performer imparting character and movement into each sample. The instruments are recorded closely and dry, capturing characteristics of the instruments and its performer such as the claps of the valves, vibrations of the mouthpiece and breaths of the performer.

The user-interface allows articulations to be layered, mixed and reversed. LFO controls can be enabled, allowing the DAW’s tempo to dictate the modulation of an individual layer’s volume. This opens the door for tempo-synced swells and provides more possibilities for evolving texture.

Sample banks can be triggered via both the UI and keyswitching. There is also a so-called ‘dynamics’ knob which controls the entire instrument’s gain independent of the instrument-level volume control. Finally, there is functionality to control ADSR at the instrument level, which can be optionally switched to the traditional articulation-level ADSR control.
