Seems you could replicate this by arbitrarily changing bit values in audio files (not sure how to render an audio file out as editable binary and then reintegrate said into a readable wav file — lil research project).
The only other effects of Oval’s “CD modification” approach would be seeking time/artifacts and non-linear access/playback. That could be replicated by adding arbitrary pauses, jumps, repetitions, etc.
