Can you mute those channels on your interface? Muting them on the interface itself usually mutes direct audio playback over main interface monitoring channels and allows you to digitally control mutes from the DAW.
For example, I have a few synths such as a microKORG XL+. That synth is added to BWS as a HW device, midi and audio.
