How To Tell Cubase To Save To External Drive? – Hosts & Applications (Sequencers, DAWs, Audio Editors, etc.) Forum
2 different things:
– Project location: the folder with all files belonging to a project – like recordings
– The main project file (.cpr): can be saved somewhere outside the project location (that’s not ideal)

When you start a new project (file>new), in the next screen, at the bottom, is it set to “default” or “prompt”?
My guess: it’s set to “default”, and that default is your system drive.
Solution:
– For new projects: change the default to the external drive or select “prompt…”
– For existing projects: File>Backup Project > choose a location on your ext. drive > close the project > open it again from its new location (and delete it from the old, if you want)
