Help Needed: Trimming Silence! – Samplers, Sampling & Sample Libraries Forum
What dB do you use/recommend for trimming silence from the beginning and ending of a sample? In most cases, there’s no real silence, so we must decide what “silence” is . . . 60dB, 90dB, 100dB, etc.
A kick or snare for example . . . If I/we trim too much off the beginning, we lose the initial strike/attack. If we trim too much off the end, we truncate the tail in an abrupt unnatural way.
So, at what dB do we trim? I’ve been using 120dB, but it’s not enough. There’s still too much in front and back of the sample.
Any thoughts?
