I did make too much of a blanket statement there. A proper setup is limited by guitar condition and must always take into account player preferences. I did guitar repair professionally for 10 years, and the check-in process always included detailed info on player preferences and having them play their guitar for me so I could see exactly where they held their hands, how hard they played, etc.
