google cloud platform – GCP VM Migration – Replication Completed but Cutover Options Disabled

Issue Summary:

I am migrating an AWS VM instance to GCP using the Google Cloud VM Migration service. The replication has clearly completed successfully, but the cutover options remain disabled.

Steps Taken:

  1. Created an AWS Source in GCP.
  2. Selected my AWS instance from Source →
  3. Add Migrations → VM Migration. Started replication from the VM
  4. Migrations tab. Replication has completed successfully and is now in Active (Idle) state.
  5. 3 replication cycles have completed, and logs confirm successful completion:
@type: type.googleapis.com/google.cloud.vmmigration.v1.MigratingVmLogEntry
replicationCycle: 3
type: "REPLICATION_CYCLE"
logName: projects/my-project/logs/vmmigration.googleapis.com%2Fmigrating_vm
message: "Replication cycle finished successfully"
  1. However, cutover options are disabled, and under the Migration dropdown:
  • “Pause replication” is enabled
  • “Start replication” is disabled

Issue:

The VM replication state is Active (Idle), but there is no option to perform a cutover.
No error logs explain why the instance is stuck in this state.

Question:

  • What additional checks should I perform to enable cutover?
  • Are there any manual steps required to transition from Active (Idle) to cutover?
